My Laptop OS's

OK. Now that I've calmed down a bit after that last blog post, I thought I'd explain my recent experience with my work laptop, Linux, and desktop environments.
I got a Dell Latitude E6510 last summer. Initially, I had some problems with the newer hardware and Linux support, particularly the Intel graphics and Alps touchpad. But after a little research and hacking, all was well. So here is my current configuration, booting 3 OS's.

Let me start with the conclusion: Gnome shell and Unity appear to be dumbed-down desktop interfaces aimed at the tablet carrying, smartphone loving, social-media crowd.

Headline AP story today by Seth Borenstein about Haiti. First sentence says blah blah blah
"on the small island of Haiti" blah blah blah.
The hair on my neck stands up. Haiti is one of two countries (the other the Dominican Republic) on the island of Hispaniola.
Can I believe anything else in the rest of the article? In the rest of the newspaper? I didn't read on.
Hey Seth, oh revered reporter of the hallowed news of the world: think you could find Haiti on a friggin map?

On Dec. 3, my "soon to be" 8 year old son and I were playing Kiriki: a KDE implementation of Yatzhee. For each additional Yatzhee, er sorry, Kiriki, one gets a 50 point bonus. He got 5 Kirikis and scored 428 points. Can you believe that?

I grew up on golf courses and was always taught proper etiquette. I'd never in my life do anything to change that. I guess you could call me a golf snob on that account.
However, a jaded golfing memory haunts me and I shall explicate here.
